Dr Amit Thadhani is the Medical Director, Niramaya Hospitals in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai and Chembur, Mumbai. He is a surgeon with a practice that stretches across central and north-east Mumbai to Navi Mumbai and is one of the few surgeons who are equally skilled in both laparoscopy and therapeutic endoscopy. He specializes in abdominal surgeries, “keyhole surgeries”, therapeutic endoscopy, ERCP and weight-loss procedures other than the routine surgeries. Dr Thadhani has a simple and direct approach to patient care: “to do the most effective treatment that can give the best outcome to the patient in the shortest time and in the most pleasant manner.”

Dr Thadhani did his MS in General Surgery from LTMGH (Sion Hospital), Mumbai and thereafter took advanced training in Endoscopy from Bhatia Hospital and Sion Hospital in Mumbai and in Laparoscopy from Sion Hospital and Ethicon Endosurgery, Mumbai. Thereafter he was awarded the Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery from the Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India (AMASI). He is also Founder Member of the AMASI and an active member of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) and Association of Surgeons of India (ASI). He participates in various charitable causes and is a member of the Sindhi Khudabadi Amil Panchayat and a Trustee of the Mohini Charitable Trust.

Dr Thadhani comes from an illustrious background. His parents are both law graduates and successful in their own fields. He is happily married with two daughters and his wife is a reputed Developmental Pediatrician. His hobbies include composing music and playing various instruments, and he performed several stage-shows and concerts during school and college days with his band. He is a voracious reader and has a collection of over 1000 books, and is an amateur golfer and tennis player.
